OCLF Provides Uniforms to 100
Students of Shasthrodaya KV School, Uduwella – Sri Lanka
January 20, 2025
In many communities, access to
basic educational necessities remains a challenge for underprivileged students.
At Shasthrodaya KV School in Uduwella, Sri Lanka, numerous students come from
families with limited financial means, making the purchase of school uniforms a
significant burden. To address this issue, the Overseas Community &
Leadership Foundation (OCLF) initiated a project to provide school uniforms to
100 students in need.
The primary objective of this
initiative was to ensure that every student had access to appropriate school
attire, fostering a sense of equality, pride, and confidence in their
educational journey. The uniforms were custom-made to fit individual students,
ensuring comfort and suitability.
Funding for this project was made
possible through community outreach, local partnerships, and generous
individual contributions. The uniforms were distributed during a dedicated
event held on January 11, 2025, at Shasthrodaya KV School. Volunteers
played a crucial role in organizing the distribution process, ensuring a smooth
and efficient experience for students and their families. OCLF board member Hiranya
Wikkramaratna was present at the event to support and oversee the
initiative.
Expected Outcomes of the
Project
OCLF anticipates several positive
outcomes from this initiative, including:
- Increased sense of belonging and pride among
students.
- Alleviated financial strain on families
struggling to afford school uniforms.
- Enhanced school spirit and a stronger sense of
equality within the student community.
The principal of Shasthrodaya
KV School expressed gratitude for this valuable initiative, highlighting
the impact it has had on students. He acknowledged that the provision of
uniforms has reduced absenteeism and allowed children to focus on their
education without the worry of inadequate school attire.
Through initiatives like this,
OCLF continues to support education and uplift communities, ensuring that
financial constraints do not become a barrier to learning. This project stands
as a testament to the power of collective effort and the profound difference it
can make in the lives of young students.
